Our lives are but a blink of an eye. In the moment it may not seem so short. It may seem as though we have a long future before us. But we know how deceiving life is when we look back and realize how quickly time has past. A butterfly may spend most of it's life as a caterpillar. Transforming itself, shedding layer after layer of skin until a hard shell protects it from the world. For most, once the butterfly emerges it has 4 to 14 days to flutter. It's existence brings simple joy to those who stop to notice. Some butterflies survive longer in controlled surroundings, segregated from the environment but can only be observed by a select few. The survival and rebirth of a butterfly as a beautiful, delicate creature inspires hope, signifies our true beauty and illustrates our rebirth in Christ.
Who am I ?

a mother,

a daughter,
a friend,
a volunteer,
a patient advocate,
a lupus survivor,
a butterfly.
