Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.2 Corinthians 9:6-7
We are blessed to have step-children who have taught us how to chose to completely love those God brings to our hearts. Sure we choose our mates, but do we always choose what or who they come with such as children, parents, siblings and even ex's. If we were honest, we would have to answer with an embarrassing, NO. Step-parenting is not like adoption. You don't get married and have a happily ever after family with no outside influences. You have a "borrowed" family for a week, a weekend or sometimes just a night. They never belong to you and they are not guaranteed yours as long as you both shall live. But you love them like they are yours. You give everything to them, cheerfully, and trust God will protect your heart. And He does protect. When I hear this song I am encouraged to love and give completely especially when its hard, especially when it hurts.
Amber hands her daddy a picture of a Thomas the Train ball pit and asks if he can make it. Proud papa says, "Yes". Partly for the challenge, mostly because his little girl asked. But what he did with it was all out of love for a little boy who has stole our hearts. It brings such joy when we give of ourselves with no guarantees, with no strings attached, with only God's blessing.
Here is our gift:
Building the frame in the cold.

Assembly in the back room. A wooden frame for the Thomas' stack. A wire frame for his face.

The first coat of paint for Thomas's body. Thanks to Lowes for looking up Sherman Williams Brilliant Blue for the "official Thomas the Train Blue color".

The wheels and lights are drying in the dinning room.

Thomas' face being assembled on my dining room table.(view from the back)

A preview pic to adjust the height of Thomas's face. Back lights and wheels are applied. Thomas' stack is covered and the smoke is billowing out.

The face this new Nana took all night to outline.

The Backing attached to hide all the wire and wood and screws.

And our "nearly" finished project.

I say this is nearly complete because, well, it is us and we have a week until the big bday party. So I am sure we will tweek a few things. Like add a "2" to the engine for the birthday boy (even though Thomas is always "1"). Or paint the bottom (which no one will see through the balls" or line the sides with vinyl (just because we have it) Who knows what we will think of in one week. But the best picture is yet to come. The surprised look on our sweet Anthony's face when he sees our project of love <3 nbsp="" p="">3>

Here is Anthony and his friends with his Thomas Ball Pit.
