What a wonderful week it has been. I guess I could say it started last weekend. I spent Friday night with Kristina in the dorm. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Mamma Lucia's and then headed to her room to watch the SU game. We walked to town for coffee and breakfast in the morning and did a little cleaning up before I left. It was nice to visit my girl without her worrying about getting back to school. Saturday, Jeff installed a cheap kitchen floor to replace the original floor that was now over 60 years old. Sunday, Jeff and I took the time to go to mom's to freshen up the house and bury her Alizabeth. Alizabeth (her remains) have been in a suitcase outside the garage this past winter and now she is settled in the ground so we can feel at ease. With Monday came the beautiful spring weather not only in Syracuse but Potsdam and Houghton as well. Tuesday brought some great news for Kristina. She applied to be a RA for the next year and received an e-mail notifying her she was in the finals. There was no mention what she would be doing the following week for training, but she is to report at 8am Saturday the 21st and bring overnight clothes, dress clothes and her passport. Can't wait to hear what the plans are. Tuesday marked the first outside practice for little league, and you may have guessed it, Jeff was asked to be an assistant coach again. Max was able to get good use out his early Easter present, a new bat. After a few good hits into the outfield, Max's confidence was peaked. Of course Dad's head was swelling a bit too. Wednesday had it's own excitement for Kathleen as she planned what she is wearing to the military ball this upcoming weekend. Her roommates are just as gitty knowing they are going to be there to help with her hair and dress. I can't wait to see the pictures. Yesterday- Jeff, Max and I took a ride up to Rainbow shores. We were pleasantly surprised to see the site I picked (while it was covered with snow) actually had a cement pad. We are looking forward to planning our summer around hanging at the beach. Lake Ontario is far from the beach at the ocean and the water will be quite a bit colder, but it is the best get-a-way we can come up with. On the beach we climbed 10-15 foot snowbanks, actually icebergs, that were left after the harsh winter. The waves were crashing against the banks and spraying over our heads. I hope the banks will melt by May 1st. We did find a single tennis court, a basketball court, a volleyball net and the req room. We are now on a mission to find kayaks. Jeff has a good lead on two of them, I hope it works out. Today was another sunny day here and SU's win brought a big smile. Max invited his grandmother, Aunt shirley and a friend of shirley's over for lunch and to watch the game. Mom is still in Austin and from what I hear she is having a great time meeting new friends in the business and drawing daisies on little girls' fingers. This weekend will be filled with the guys chopping wood while I clean out the camper.
