Was I ready?
How many times have I heard or asked, "Are you ready for Christmas." My response has always been - YES. My Christmas principle was/is, it is coming anyways so whatever is done by that day is done. This way I always feel ready. I will say this Christmas was a challenge. No Christmas cards went out and no cookies were made. I spent the week before Christmas working, picking up the girls, getting hair cuts, going to lunch and cleaning the house. In the back of head I had a long list of 'must do' before the family comes over for Christmas Eve, but I couldn't find the time to get to them. Monday, December 22 there was not a cookie in the house. I worked, then made the meatballs and sauce when I came home. December 23, I worked then started the grocery shopping and some prep work. By the time I got home from the store we had a tray cookies wrapped on my dinning room table from the Lyncourt Bakery to thank Jeff for helping out. At 8pm Jeff came through from the the door with another wrapped tray of cookies from friends who asked us to feed their cats. December 24, more shopping and prep work was finished by 11am. Jeff came home at 2 with yet another tray of cookies from friends who thought cookies would be a nice gift. By the time my guests arrived I filled two platters with beautiful homemade cookies, my meals were made and the counter were decorated with food, candy, lights and snacks. I was ready after all. No, the cards were never sent out. But I know I still have time to wish my friends and family a Merry Christmas Season and a blessed New Year.
